About the Film

Our film is about the daily grind of life in the American Hockey League (AHL). We follow around the Binghamton Senators; the minor league affiliate of the Ottawa Senators, during the weekend of April 1 2016. During that time the team played what is called a "3 in 3," where the team played 3 games in 3 days. The Senators hosted the Albany Devils Friday Night, hosted the Utica Comets Saturday Night, and then traveled to Albany to face the Devils in a Sunday Afternoon game.

We show you all of the aspects of the Senators' weekend. From the Saturday Morning practice to the Sunday bus trip to Albany, the film shows everything that goes into the minor league hockey lifestyle.

As the film takes you through the team's weekend, we hone in on three key characters. The first is longtime Binghamton broadcaster Grady Whittenburg. He has been with the team since its inaugural season in 2002. He previously called men's hockey for Cornell University. The second is Matt Mitchell, the team's equipment manager. He has served as an assistant equipment manager at the NHL level for the New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers, but never as the headman. The third is Max McCormick, who is in his second year in professional hockey. He has already had a taste of the show, playing 20 games during the 2015-16 season with Ottawa.

As we chronicle the team's weekend we focus on the NHL aspirations that the subjects of the film have. We hope to show that although the AHL does not have the glitz and glamor that the NHL does, it is made up of people highly motivated to get to the highest level of the sport of hockey.
